Google has introduced a range of new AI-powered features for Android users, aiming to enhance messaging experiences and streamline interactions on the platform.

Introduction of Gemini Chatbot in Google Messages

Google has integrated its Gemini AI chatbot into the Google Messages app, offering users the ability to engage in conversations with the chatbot. Initially available in English (with French support in Canada) and limited to “select markets,” the Gemini beta allows users to leverage AI assistance for drafting messages, planning events, and brainstorming ideas.

Photomoji Feature in Google Messages

Alongside the Gemini chatbot, Google Messages has introduced “photomoji,” enabling users to create custom emojis from their own photos. These personalized emojis can be used to react to messages or shared as stickers within conversations.

Enhancements in Android Auto

Android Auto now includes features to improve the driving experience. Users can listen to summaries of long text conversations without playing entire messages aloud, making it convenient for managing large group chats while driving. Additionally, Android Auto offers quick reply suggestions and actions, such as making phone calls or navigating to addresses received in messages, all accessible via pop-ups to minimize distractions while driving.

AI-Powered Tools and Improvements

Google has expanded AI capabilities across its platform, including auto-generated photo descriptions within Google Messages and enhanced accessibility through “TalkBack” for the Lens feature in Google Maps. The “TalkBack” feature uses the phone’s camera to provide audio descriptions of locations, including directions, ratings, and closing times, making navigation more seamless for users.

Apple’s AI Plans

For iPhone users curious about AI advancements, Apple’s CEO Tim Cook has hinted at upcoming announcements later this year. Apple aims to unveil new AI features, promising exciting developments to enhance user experiences across its ecosystem.
