Truecaller has unveiled the launch of call recording functionality for both its Android and iOS applications, enabling users to effortlessly record voice calls. The reintroduction of this feature comes after the removal of call recording last year due to an API issue with Google.
Call Recording Feature
The call recording feature will capture conversations on both ends of the call, with a beep sound alerting the other party to the recording. Notably, this feature is currently exclusive to premium subscribers and is initially available only in the US, with plans for a broader rollout to other countries in the near future.
Call Recording on Android Devices
For Android users, call recording is a straightforward process. If Truecaller is set as the default dialer, enabling call recording on the device will automatically record all calls. Alternatively, for users employing a different dialer, activating call recording requires tapping on the floating Truecaller bubble each time they wish to initiate recording.
Call Recording on iPhone
Recording calls on an iPhone entails a slightly more complex procedure. Users must dial a dedicated recording line for each call and subsequently merge the two calls to commence recording. For outgoing calls, initiating a call with the recording line via the Truecaller app precedes contacting the desired recipient and merging the calls.
AI-Powered Call Transcription
In addition to call recording, Truecaller’s AI technology facilitates the creation of call transcriptions. These transcriptions offer concise summaries of calls, enabling users to quickly access vital information discussed during conversations.
Truecaller’s initiative to reintroduce call recording, alongside the implementation of AI-powered transcription, enhances the user experience by providing robust call management capabilities. As the feature continues to evolve, users can anticipate further refinements aimed at optimizing communication workflows across both Android and iOS platforms.
