Micro-blogging platform Twitter has unveiled a new feature that simplifies the process of creating and sharing GIFs directly from the in-app camera on iOS devices.
Enhanced GIF Creation
In a statement, the company highlighted the introduction of an option to capture personalized GIFs using the in-app camera on iOS devices. While GIFs themselves are not new to Twitter, the ability to create them seamlessly within the app represents a significant enhancement.
Simple Process
To record a GIF within the iOS app, users need to access the new tweet button, then tap the photo icon followed by the camera icon. From there, users can select the GIF mode and press and hold the record button to capture their desired GIF content.
Seamless Integration
While GIFs cannot be edited within the Twitter app, they are automatically saved to the user’s camera roll for easy access and sharing beyond the platform.
Testing New Clipping Tool for Spaces
In addition to the GIF creation feature, Twitter has initiated testing of a new clipping tool for its audio-based chat rooms called Spaces.
Clipping Tool Testing
Select hosts on iOS devices now have the ability to clip 30-second segments of audio from recorded Spaces. These clips can then be shared with others on Twitter, providing a snippet of the original audio content.
Expanded Accessibility
Although currently limited to iOS users, the clips can be viewed and listened to by all iOS users on their timelines. Android and web users can expect access to this functionality in the near future.
Future Plans
Twitter has indicated its intention to extend the clipping functionality to all users in the future, ensuring that the feature is not exclusive to hosts alone. This move reflects Twitter’s commitment to enhancing user engagement and interaction across its platform.
