Twitter has commenced the rollout of a new feature that enables all Android and iOS users to record Spaces, the audio-based chat rooms on the platform.
Enhanced Accessibility
In a tweet, the company announced the launch of the recording feature for all users across both iOS and Android platforms. This update ensures that individuals hosting Spaces can now record their audio conversations.
Expanded Availability
Initially introduced to a limited number of hosts in October, the recording feature is now accessible to all hosts, as promised by Twitter. Following the conclusion of a Space session, hosts will retain access to the full-length recording for 30 days from the initial broadcast. During this period, hosts can share or tweet the recording as desired.
Enhanced Listener Experience
Listeners also benefit from this update, gaining the ability to playback any recorded Space directly from their Twitter timeline. This added functionality enhances the overall user experience by providing convenient access to past audio sessions.
Broadening Reach
Previously, Twitter introduced the capability for users to share direct links to their Spaces, enabling individuals outside the platform to tune into live audio sessions via the web without requiring a Twitter account. This expansion aims to accommodate Spaces users who wish to engage friends who are not active Twitter users but still want to participate in audio discussions.
Competitive Advantage
By extending the recording feature to all users and enhancing the accessibility of Spaces, Twitter aims to broaden its user base and attract new customers beyond its platform. This move also positions Twitter Spaces competitively against similar audio-based platforms like Clubhouse and Facebook’s Live Audio Rooms.
