India witnessed an increase of 556 Covid cases within a day, bringing the total tally to 4,46,68,523, while active cases decreased by 252 during the same period to reach 6,782, according to the latest data from the Union Health Ministry updated on Friday.
Fatality and Recovery Statistics
The death toll climbed to 5,30,570, with 17 additional fatalities, including 15 reported by Kerala, according to the data updated at 8 am. The number of individuals who have recovered from the disease surged to 4,41,31,171, maintaining a high recovery rate. The case fatality rate stands at 1.19 percent.
Active cases now constitute 0.02 percent of the total infections, indicating a relatively low prevalence of the virus. Meanwhile, the national Covid-19 recovery rate has increased to 98.79 percent, reflecting the effective management of the pandemic.
Vaccination Drive Progress
According to the health ministry’s website, India has administered 219.85 crore doses of Covid vaccine under the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive. This vaccination effort plays a crucial role in controlling the spread of the virus and mitigating its impact on public health.
